Journey to Kauai
Kilauea Lighthouse
Located in the most Northern point of the Hawaiian Islands. The lighthouse and cliffs can be seen from the overlook, but a timed entry reservation is required to visit the lighthouse and National Wildlife Refuge. A great location to watch the nesting birds. Be on the lookout for sea turtles, whales and seals. The native plants and trees are beautiful in the refuge.
Uluwehi Falls
A great journey to the “Secret Falls”. We took a five hour guided tour which began with kayaking up the smooth Wailua River. Then we hiked through the rainforest observing beautiful trees and small waterfalls. At the end of our hike, we finally viewed the fabulous 120 foot waterfall. We enjoyed a dip in the water and lunch before our return journey.
Wailua Falls
This 173 foot waterfall was made famous by the television show Fantasy Island. They are located on the Wailua River near Lihue. The top of the falls were easily accessible by car and a short walk. The lookout provided a great spot for pictures. During our trip, the bottom portion was closed for safety concerns. Watch for the rainbows typically seen at the falls.
